One rule that helps to prevent busting on the part of the player is to always stand when the cards reveal a total of 19 or above. Chances are very slim that if a hit is taken this person will not bust. One should never take a chance on a very small probability.

Also if the dealer has a six or below on the faced up card, risks should be very minimal for the other player. It would not be wise to risk busting if the up card of the dealer is that low. Chances are good that the dealer may bust trying to get a higher number that is closer to 21. So the player should stand if he or she has a good number.
